1.What is TrueMed, and how does it work with Major Fitness?
TrueMed is our partner that helps you use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to purchase eligible Major Fitness equipment. After checkout, TrueMed will help verify your eligibility and issue a Letter of Medical Necessity if applicable — making your purchase eligible for pre-tax savings.
2.Which products are eligible for HSA/FSA?
Most strength and fitness equipment that supports a medical or health goal may qualify — including our Power Racks, Smith Machines(EXPLORE ELIGIBLE EQUIPMENT), and All-in-One Trainers. TrueMed will help determine your eligibility based on a short health questionnaire.
3.How much can I save by using my HSA/FSA funds?
When you use HSA or FSA funds, you're paying with pre-tax dollars—meaning that money isn't taxed as income. Depending on your tax bracket, this can result in savings of up to 30%.
Please note: applicable state or local sales tax may still be charged at checkout, but the money you’re using is still tax-advantaged.
4.How do I use my HSA/FSA to buy Major Fitness equipment?
Shop and checkout as usual on our website
- Select “Pay with HSA/FSA” or “Use TrueMed” when prompted
- Complete a brief health questionnaire through TrueMed
- If eligible, TrueMed will issue a Letter of Medical Necessity
- Use your HSA/FSA card or submit the documentation for reimbursement
5.Can I use my HSA or FSA debit card directly?
Yes — if your product is approved, you can use your HSA/FSA card directly at checkout. If you're using a regular card, TrueMed will provide the documentation needed for reimbursement.
6.How long does it take to get approved?
Most users complete the TrueMed process in 2–3 minutes, and many receive instant approval. Others may hear back within 1 business day.
7.What if I don't get approved?
If you’re not eligible for HSA/FSA use through TrueMed, you can still purchase the equipment with a standard payment method.
8.Where can I learn more about HSA/FSA eligibility?
You can visit TrueMed’s Help Center(https://support.truemed.com/) or reach out to our team for questions specific to your purchase.
9.If you meet the HSA card payment requirements, but every time you swipe your card, you are prompted that the payment has been rejected.
Here's what may be happening:
If the customer’s HSA card has sufficient funds but the transaction is still being declined, there are a few possible reasons to consider:
1. Merchant Category Code (MCC) Restrictions:
HSA cards only work at merchants classified as eligible healthcare providers. If Truemed or the underlying merchant account is not coded as a qualifying healthcare provider, the transaction may automatically be declined—even if the product qualifies.
2. Card Issuer Restrictions:
Some HSA administrators place extra filters or require pre-authorization for certain purchases or merchants. The customer may need to contact their HSA provider directly to whitelist Truemed as an approved merchant.
3.Card Format or Numbering Issue:
Some cards might have limitations with certain gateways or online processors—especially when they behave more like debit cards. While the number may be valid, the processor might not be accepting that format.
4. Processor-Specific Issues (e.g. Truemed):
Since this payment is happening through Truemed, it’s worth checking with their support team to verify that the integration is functioning properly and that their MCC setup is compatible with the customer's HSA provider.
Ask the customer to:
Contact their HSA provider and confirm that payments to Truemed are allowed.
Try using the “Split Pay” option if they believe the issue is partial coverage (e.g., a spending cap).
If unsuccessful, complete the purchase using a credit/debit card and apply for manual reimbursement from their HSA account.
